As far as sheer numbers of hunters, I would assume that bow hunters make up between 1/3 and 1/2 of the group. As far as money invested in the economy, it would be lower than that of firearm hunters. Arrows and bolts can be reused easier than cartridges and shells. What percentage do bow hunters make up in the hunting market?
It varies from state to state. My guess would be about 25 to 30% nation wide. But they contribute greatly to the economy. A bow rigged out can run you about $1100. Treestand-$300..Camo clothing- $300..Scents and lures- $100...Good slicker suit-$150...Scent Blocker clothing-$300...Dozen arrows-$100 ..A dozen broadheads-$120 Boots for warm weather and cold weather- $130 a pair. And almost a neccesity is a 4-wheel drive 4-wheeler- around $7200.The items I listed total around $10,000. Not everyone goes with top of the line equipment, I was just showing you how expensive it could get.
