What does it cost to get into duck hunting.?

I'm 15 and would like to get into duck hunting. I really have two questions. First, how much does it cost to get into duck hunting(shotgun not included). And second, is this a good sport for someone who has never hunted before? I'm hoping to take the hunter education course next week and really just want the bare essentials, nothing else. As I doubt I can convince my father to pay for anything involved(he's never really tried hunting or fishing or shooting). What does it cost to get into duck hunting.?
my dad and brother are into duck hunting as well. im not sure of the actual price of it..but you'll have to keep in mind that you're going to have to buy the camo, possibly decoys, weighters (if your going in water), and any other essentials. im sure the hunters education course will go over all of that stuff. and yeah. its a great sport. my brothers 13 and was into the sport ever since my dad brought us with him when we were younger. my brother also shot his first duck last year. (he just began hunting last winter.) but everything will become more clear after you take the hunters course. hope i helped =]

--EDIT--

feel free to email me if you have anymore questions. i can always ask my brother/dad if you need answers. What does it cost to get into duck hunting.?
I would not recommend starting out duck hunting on your own. If you have never hunted before start with squirrels. If you have a shot gun, you can hunt squirrels for a fraction of the cost of ducks. In most places ducks are a rich man's game. If you are interested, find some one in you area who will let you go along. They may have an extra set of waders you can use and you won't be out money for a boat, decoys, calls, ETC.

Dave
In addition to things listed in previous answers you need to include the cost of your license and stamps. Most state small game licenses run from 10 to 25 dollars, and most states require a state waterfowl stamp that will cost from 10 to 20 dollors. I haven't bought a federal waterfowl stamp in several years but the last I heard they were going up to 25 dollars. If you plan on hunting out of your home state non-resident licenses are a lot more expensive.
I know the ducks are free.
Duck hunting isn't too expensive but here are the absolute basics you will need.

shotgun- you can get a rem 870 or a mossberg 500 for around 300-400. If you can get your hands on a used one they are cheaper.

I suggest a full choke on the shotgun - $15-20

shells- box of #2 steel shot. ~$25

A couple duck calls - $10-20

Camo- Can be bought at wallmart dirt cheap but it's crap camo. It'll do though

That is the basic equipment you need. Decoys are an optional thing but help out immensly.

Duck hunting is tough. You have to find the right spot where the ducks will land on water (pond, stream, river, etc) and setup before they do. Then you have to stay concealed in the grass until they come to you. Calls work great but decoys will help insure that they will know where the other ';ducks'; (you) are. Then the tough part comes. Get up and start shooting. Ducks fly fast so the best time to shoot is when they are slowing down and preparing to land. It is illegal to shoot a duck that is in the water already, not to mention highly unethical.

The best way for you to get into hunting would be to call up a local fish and game club and find out when their next meeting is. You may eventually even want to join. But most fish and game clubs won't have any problem helping out a young hunter out. You may even meet someone that will be willing to take you out hunting with them. Then you could learn a lot.
